No user means no one to report a frozen screen. Bento recovers crashed apps and reboots stuck devices automatically.
Enroll and configure thousands of devices in bulk, with no manual setup at each location.
Devices stay locked to their job, with no wandering into settings, browsers, or other apps.
Stage rollouts into maintenance windows, so an update never takes down a store or a shift.
Bento manages the full lifecycle of an unattended fleet: enrollment, lockdown, uptime, recovery, updates, and support.
Provision devices in bulk by QR code, NFC, or enrollment token, with no manual setup per device.
Lock each device to its purpose with Android COSU dedicated-device mode and a custom launcher.
Restart the app within seconds of a crash, and reboot the device remotely if the system freezes.
Reboot on a set schedule to clear memory and apply pending changes overnight.
Track online status, battery, storage, memory, and network, with alerts the moment a device drops.
See and control any device's screen from the console, because there is no user to describe the problem.
Roll out app and OS updates in waves during maintenance windows, and pause if something breaks.
Keep policies enforced and content cached when connectivity drops, then sync on reconnect.
Dedicated devices fail silently. Bento watches every one of them, restarts what breaks, and tells you before a customer notices.

How much does dedicated device management cost?
It is included in Bento MDM at EUR 1 per device per month, with enrollment, lockdown, monitoring, remote view, crash recovery, and staged updates. A fleet of 500 dedicated devices costs EUR 500 per month.
Which platforms support dedicated device mode?
Android Enterprise dedicated device mode (COSU) is the deepest implementation. Equivalent lockdown exists on iOS through Single App Mode and on Windows through Assigned Access. Bento manages all three from one console. Coverage depth varies by platform and OEM.
Can dedicated devices be updated without downtime?
Updates are staged into maintenance windows aligned to each location's quiet hours, and rolled out in waves rather than all at once, so a bad update does not take down an entire fleet during trading hours.
How do you support devices with no user in front of them?
Through remote view and control, continuous health monitoring, automatic app restart on crash, remote reboot, and alerting when a device goes offline. Because no one is there to report a problem, the platform has to detect and fix it, or tell IT before it affects customers.
How is this different from kiosk mode?
Kiosk mode is the lockdown mechanism: it restricts a device to one app or a curated set. Dedicated device management is the whole lifecycle around that fleet: how you enroll thousands of devices, keep them running without anyone on site, recover them when they crash, and update them without disrupting operations. Kiosk lockdown is one part of it. For the lockdown mechanism itself, see MDM Kiosk Software.
What is COSU in Android Enterprise?
COSU stands for Corporate-Owned, Single-Use. It is one of the three Android Enterprise management modes, alongside work profile (personal devices with a work container) and fully managed (corporate devices with a user). COSU devices are company-owned, have no personal user, and are locked to a single purpose.
What is dedicated device management?
Dedicated device management is the management of corporate-owned devices that serve a single purpose and have no personal user, such as POS terminals, scanners, kiosks, and digital signage. In the Android Enterprise model it is called dedicated device mode, or COSU (Corporate-Owned, Single-Use). It covers the full lifecycle: bulk enrollment, lockdown, uptime monitoring, crash recovery, remote support, and staged updates.
From BYOD to kiosk lockdown, Bento MDM secures and simplifies your device operations. Try it for free or book a live demo.
